Lockdown is not the Best Option for Our Country

Taken in Wuhan, China. A drone took a video and that shows 11 million people empty during the largest quarantine in human history.

"I am a student of English Letters Department at Universitas Ma Chung (https://machung.ac.id) and this is my work".

Yeah.. Lockdown. Lately, this word is often heard in our ears since the spread of the Coronavirus. This pandemic becomes a catastrophe to mankind that everyone is afraid of. The first country doing lockdown was of course China. The country implemented the largest quarantine in humankind history to containing the Coronavirus. Because China is where the virus originated from and at the end of January had successfully locking down at least 16 cities. Then, it followed by countries such as Italy, Spain, France and so on. Most of the countries worldwide, they banning public gatherings and travel including leisure, retail, worship, and even walk outside. People eventually doing things just inside from their respective homes and go out as needed. This is done to prevent further spread.

Armies of  medical staff headed somewhere

However, China dramatically decreases its suspect numbers positive for the virus from just a month ago. This happened because the people obeyed the government well. They tried their best to stayed at home and minimize going outside. As a result, some of China’s cities looked dead.

However, fortunately, our country didn’t make a lockdown because it’s still considered in the safe level. Unfortunately, the suspects continuously increase as Indonesian people still disobeying the government’s rules. After all, our government’s appeal is already clear. Please stay out from gathering around, minimize travel and reduce activity outside home, avoid the crowd, work or study through online methods and lastly social distancing. However, on the other hand, the government’s appeals to working at home are instead seen as a time for a vacation. Various news reported the build-up of visitors in several tourist attractions. Suppose this is true, it could be that Indonesian people have a very low obedience value to the appeals of government.

Frontline staff around the world battling Coronavirus tell people to "stay at home"

The spread isn’t going to be over soon if the society itself not fully aware of the dangers of this virus. Therefore, the distribution chain will be difficult to break. Is it we need waiting thousands of people to get infected so the society will be aware? Is it we need waiting for people to shows a symptom in making people aware? If it indicates that, surely this is not a good solution at all. We don’t want our medical staff and nurses to fall one by one because of exhaustion dealing with patients. They work hard for us instead of gathering with family. We don’t realize it until we still disobey the rules by not keep stay at home. The central government is indeed moving to overcome it, but it is said their movements are slow. Hence, we still see in many places that people still gather around. When China did a lockdown, the government readied to meet the needs of its people. The question, is it our government is now ready to do that if things get worse? Hopefully, it’s not going to happen in our beloved country.

Critical Analysis of Kite Runner – Postcolonial Criticism

The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini's first novel of the three)           The Postcolonial Criticism is one of a kind from the other types of criticism. The reason I chose this is that I want to discuss more how the novel connects with the countries which have ever intervened with Afghanistan. Moreover, still intervening with the country in terms of the social condition, culture, and so on. The overall psychology of its inhabitants is also important. Because the former colonizer certainly has caused and left a lasting impact on the colonized country. Therefore, there must be a lot of changes and transformations in Afghanistan in many aspects as a whole. Afghanistan was a formerly colonized country of the British Empire. However, it was a long time ago before the novel was published, and even before the author was born. Afghanistan gained its independence from the British in 1919. Whereas Khaled Hosseini was born in 1965. So, we obviously see the long gap between the two here in whic
